In Commemoration From the Supporters of the Case

Thousands of Central Virginians will gather on Brown’s Island for the 2007 canalWALK for Long, Healthy Life, on Saturday, May 19, from 2 to 8 o’clock p.m..  The event celebrates and supports health, security and independence for adults over 60 and their families – with all proceeds to support Senior Connections – The Capital Area Agency on Aging, and Greater Richmond YMCA’s Active Adult Programs.

Come for the grandbabies’ parade and 3K fundraising walk, stay for supper, and join 12-time Grammy Award winner Emmylou Harris, with opening act The Taters for a sunset concert performance that is not to be missed.

Strap on your sneakers and gather up your parents, kids and their aupairs, grands and great-grands. Fill your car with your family and friends, and head downtown to Brown’s Island for a fabulous day of discovery, fun, music, food and entertainment.

By 2025, people over the age of 60 will represent 25 percent of all Virginians – nearly doubling the need for diverse community services for seniors.  Among the services that will be most needed are access to health and fitness, and assistance to maintain independent living – two core focuses of Senior Connections and the YMCA.
